individual / family Services

Clients are each assigned a primary counselor who they will meet with individually for weekly sessions to identify, measure, and work on treatment goals and objectives. Client’s will develop an individualized treatment plan for their treatment stay, as well as an individualized aftercare plan. Primary counselors will assist clients in processing issues related to their addiction that are more comfortably discussed in a one-on-one setting as opposed to a group setting. Primary counselors will assist clients with case management issues related to aftercare interviews/appointments, appropriate management and referrals for mental health issues, legal concerns, navigating through family dynamics, and setting up appropriate sober supports outside of treatment. Counselors will also be in communication with the client’s family members or healthy sober supports and schedule family sessions or phone conferences as deemed necessary. The goal of these sessions is for clients to do significant internal work on themselves with a counselor specializing in addiction and be set up for the best chance of success once they are discharged from the program.

Personal Plan for the day

This is a group facilitated each morning by the Behavioral Health Technicians to allow clients to create a personal recovery plan for the day. Clients start off each group by reading a daily reflection reading and discussing how they relate or identify to the reading. The facilitator then goes over the schedule for the day as well as any community concerns. Each client then identifies their recovery plans and goals for that day and program tools they plan to use to be successful with those goals.

10th step group

This group is a nightly reflection group to process how well each client did with meeting their personal recovery plans and goals for that day. Clients discuss if they achieved their goals that day and, if not, what obstacles prevented them from achieving their goals. If obstacles are present, the group processes how to overcome those obstacles and meet the unresolved goals the following day. This group is meant to be a time for the client to do a personal inventory on their day and assess how honest, open, and willing they were with peers and staff. It also allows the client to regularly be looking at areas of improvement as well as achievements in their recovery process.

12 Step Programming

Clients participate in 12-Step programming groups each evening to introduce them to recovery programs and recovery meeting formats. This can include AA meetings, group discussions on different pathways to recovery, Big Book studies, client’s telling their personal recovery stories, and outside speakers. Clients are also given the opportunity to go to meetings outside of Malibu Wellness Ranch to experience recovery meetings outside of a treatment center setting. Speakers and outside meetings are always in accordance with CDC guidelines.

Process Groups

These groups are facilitated by the Behavioral Health Technician Staff in order to assist clients in processing, internalize and absorb their therapeutic group experiences throughout the day. Process groups allow the community a safe and supportive place to discuss and relate to one another about subject matter discussed, as well identify additional goals or obstacles for their recovery.
