How to Build Confidence Using the Four Levels of Continuum Care

At Malibu Wellness Ranch, we want to help you understand how to build confidence during every stage of recovery. When you are beginning to build a new life after experiencing substance use disorder (SUD), it is essential to find ways to build confidence. At Malibu Wellness, we have designed our treatment program with a continuum of care. Remember that it is important to be patient with yourself as you gain confidence and move through the treatment levels.

What Are the Steps of Treatment?

While in our care at Malibu Wellness Ranch, our clients will go through four levels of care. The levels are meant to be flexible and adaptable. We want to meet the needs of each unique individual we have the opportunity to work with. Our treatments levels are:

  1. Detoxification
  2. Residential
  3. Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
  4. Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Level One: Detoxification

Detoxification, or detox, is the first part of recovery from addiction. When you make the decision to rid your life of substances, you need to rid your body of them first. Sometimes this can be a difficult process that needs to be supervised by medical professionals. While in detox, medical professionals can help you manage the symptoms of withdrawal.

During this stage, it is important to hold onto confidence in yourself and your medical team. You need to believe that you will pass through detox successfully. You can also use your experience in detox to forever remember how far you have come and strengthen your resolve to never go back.

Level Two: Residential

After our clients complete the detoxification process, they enter the residential level of care at Malibu Wellness Ranch. Recovery from SUD means more than simply abstaining from drug and alcohol use. It requires a complete lifestyle and mentality change. While staying at Malibu, clients will develop the skills and confidence they need to make these changes.

During the residential level of care, our clients will be expanding their understanding of addiction as a disease. This includes how SUD affects them mentally and physically. They will learn about things like post-acute withdrawal syndrome and the challenges associated with relapse. At this level, 12-Step programming will be introduced, and clients will have the opportunity to identify their individual needs in treatment and recovery.

Level Three: PHP

Clients in level three of treatment at Malibu will take a more find depth look at the risk of relapse. They will work together with their peers and the Malibu team to learn about relapse triggers and relapse prevention skills. This can include doing work to process unresolved issues related to past life experiences and improving strained relationships with family.

12-Step programming is also an essential part of this level of treatment. Clients will be completing tasks that will help them move through the first three steps. They will also be expected to start looking for a sponsor and finding recovery supports that they can utilize. By having these supports in place and arming themselves with knowledge, our clients can continue to build confidence.

Level Four: IOP

As clients move to the last level of treatment, they will continue the work that they started in the previous levels of care. They will develop relapse prevention skills and plans with their primary counselor. Malibu Wellness Ranch gives them the opportunity to start identifying healthy hobbies and activities that they can continue outside of treatment.

During this level of care, our clients will start to work on a continuing care plan for when they leave treatment. This will help them in their transition back home or wherever their next destination is in recovery. By having a plan in place, our clients can build the confidence they will need to be successful in sobriety after treatment.

Build Confidence at Malibu Wellness Ranch

Malibu Wellness Ranch specializes in creating an environment in which our clients can heal from their addictions and start building a new life for themselves. We have a unique center that allows people to take a break from their lives in order to focus on themselves while working through a full continuum of care.

Our amazing facility is situated on 800 acres in the Pocono Mountain Range, which used to be a historical dude ranch. We offer a variety of activities that are designed to help our clients develop skills and build confidence. These include hiking, fishing, ATVs, movie nights, and bonfires.

One of the programs that we are most proud of is our Equine Program. When clients arrive at our facility, they are paired with a horse that will be a big part of their experience at Malibu Wellness Ranch. Clients will help take care of their horse’s needs and participate in different activities around the ranch. It is a unique program that offers people a way to break through barriers to their recovery through their bond with their horse.

Addiction tends to creep into every part of a person’s life, relationships, leisure activities, self-confidence, coping skills, and many others. At Malibu Wellness, we think that treatment needs to take into consideration the whole person and how their lives have been impacted. Throughout treatment and beyond, we want to help our clients build the confidence that they need to have success in sobriety.

Treatment for addiction should be a multi-faceted experience with engagement in multiple pathways of healing. Of course, the first step is to rid your life of substances and dependence. Beyond that, it is all about rebuilding your life around your unique interests and needs so that you can build confidence and experience success. At Malibu Wellness Ranch, we want each of our clients to find joy in life without the use of substances. We are uniquely set up to provide new adventures that will help our clients learn hobbies and build confidence that will last them a lifetime.
